What's in store for the future of work at Roblox?

Roblox’s work environment in the future

We’ve always felt that teams are most successful when they share a common goal and have the freedom to tackle significant possibilities if they’re given autonomy. This idea has been a guiding force throughout the past two years, Roblox as we’ve dealt with the pandemic’s difficulties. It will also form the foundation of our thinking about work in twenty years’ time.

We have all had to change our routines because of the pandemic. Trial periods with remote work have become the norm. People are gradually returning to the office, but we recognize that our world has changed. We’ve established a new way of operating that is based on personal responsibility. This allows teams and leaders to work in the most efficient manner possible for them, depending on their objectives.

Collaborative and Enabling Workplaces

The future of work at Roblox is guided by two of our corporate values: a long-term perspective and responsibility. As we strive to rethink how people interact, we must consider carefully how we enable and empower our personnel to accomplish this long-term goal. We’ve received feedback from Roblox players throughout the year through surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one talks. They understand how important it is for them to be able to work remotely or in the office. When we work together in person, we can better foster values that are important to us as a company. These values might include things like innovation, creativity, and collaboration. We feel it is critical that all staff return to the workplace at certain periods of the year, and we also desire to ensure that our time together is productive and beneficial. We want our staff to come back, and we are making sure that those who want to work remotely can do so.

We have a flexible work environment that lets employees work from home part of the week or work remotely with visits to the office every few months.

  • Both make sure that they have dedicated workspaces so that they may sit near their teammates or other collaborators for persons who live locally and plan to be in a Roblox office three days a week (scheduled Tuesday-Thursday) and then spend the other two days where they work best, whether at home, in a coffee shop or elsewhere.
  • If you want to work from home, we can provide you with a desk in a hotel. You will come to the hotel for at least 4 weeks out of the year. You can come more often if you want, but it is up to you. Employees who live far away will come once a year.

For the overall company event where all come together, we will continue our weekly town hall, our monthly AMA with CEO David Baszuki, our open lunch with leadership, and we will Start new annual gatherings like Roblox Week. We will also retain our no-meeting days and core working hours.
