Pokemon TCG released its second series set in 2022 in May 2022. The expansion, Sword & Shield astral Radiance, came out on May 27th 2022. That’s the tenth set under the Sword & Shield banner and the first to include the Radiant Pokemon mechanic. Radiant Pokemon are the same as Shining Pokemon of the past, because they use a Shiny Pokemon with holofoil and texture rather than background. The difference is, however, a special holo pattern is on the text area of the card. Sword & Shield Astral Radiance continues the Trainer Gallery, a subset of Character Rares, Character Super Rares, Full Art Trainers and Black & Gold VMAXes that began in the previous set, Sword & Shield Brilliant Stars. Let me take your journey through this latest collection, as we appreciate the artwork, discuss the card’s place in the collection and discuss what certain elements of the expansion could have done for the future of the Pokemon TCG. Today, we hear three Gold VSTARs of Shield and & Swing.

The 5 mascots ofSword and Swing Astral Radiance are Origin Forme Palkia, Origin Forme Dialga, Hisuian Decidueye, Hisuian Typhlosion, and Hisuian Samurott. Of these 5 pack art Pokemon, only three received the Gold VSTAR treatment: Origin Forme Palkia, Origin Forme Dialga and Hisuian Samurott. The Japanese scales only include a Gold VSTAR, andAstral Radiance adapts three sets:Time Gazer, Space Juggler andAttle Region. In this kind of set, the Hisuian Samurott was designed to treat the Gold VSTAR rather than Hisuian Typhlosion or Hisuian Decidueye.
