Masayasu Ito, who was the director and director of Sony Interactive Entertainment, is retiring on October 1st. The company initially revealed that Ito had resign, but a representative told Bloomberg he had reached retirement age.

Lin Tao will replace Ito, while Kiichiro Urata will be appointed director of the company. Urata is Sony Interactive Entertainments’ partner development manager. Overall, it’s an end of the era for Ito who worked for the company since April 2008 (after almost 11 years at Sony Corporation working on car audio products).

Before he started a business, he was responsible for hardware engineering. He also spent several months in PlayStation hardware for the PS4, Xbox 360 and PS4. As per Bloomberg, his design for their circuit board designs earned accolades both inside and outside the company in their appearance. A former executive, for example, said that without Ito, the PS4 wouldn’t be possible.
