Independent game developer Ovid Works announced that the whimsical VR space simulator Interkosmos 2000 (which is a sequel to the VR simulator Interkosmos) is now available via Meta Quest 2 for $9.99.

Interkosmos 2000 places players in space on the eve of the year 2000. If you want to keep this rusty bucket of bolts safe and sound, you’ll have to take it for granted. You’re responsible for managing your engines, managing navigation and guide systems and maintaining your ecological systems. Interkosmos 2000’s exciting story mode aims to save humanity from the year 2000 bug.

It’s really the joy of virtual reality. This is the only place where people want to play with space, says Zach Choyecki, developer of Ovid Works.

Interkosmos 2000 conveys that feeling of miles above the earth, hurtling through space with constant speed while the cold vacuum of oblivion works hard to break the ship apart. We wanted that Interkosmos 2000 to be a life-changing space trip full of exciting challenges and dynamic situations brought to life through the magic of virtual reality.

Ovid Works is currently working on a sandbox mode which will open up the game by adding mechanics to calculate orbital transitions, so players can play without a guide and complete various scenarios. After release of the patch, the Sandbox mode will be added.
