Cryptozoic Entertainment has announced plans to publish a card game based on the Rotten Tomatoes website. The Card Game is a card game which players use to rank movies based on what they believe the movie is entitled to “Tomatometer”. Players score points based on the closeness of their real Tomatometer score. This is a group game for up to twenty participants. The game is going to cost 24.99 dollars and will be released in the fourth half of the year 2022. This marks the first time that Rotten Tomatoes, or perhaps any movie review site, has got a board game.
Licensed party games became more popular over the past few years, especially when they were tied to big IPs. Funko Games recently released game based on Parks and Recreation and Ted Lasso, while Asmodee announced some party games based on the anime series Squid Game and Stranger Things. The party was actually a single-player game.
However, this seems odd to Cryptozoic. The publisher, known for its deck-building and card games, recently expanded its scope into digital play, with the publisher working on the DC Dual Force, which is expected to be released this year. No news about DC Dual Force has been announced in over a year, and the official Facebook and Twitter page of the card game went silent on social media.
After it’s over, the card game will hit the stores later this year.
